Rehearsal for “Debussy as Painter of Song”

This evening we enjoyed working with composer Chason Goldfinger, who attended rehearsal of his chansons de la lumière: hymn to the evening. Soprano Sarah Shafer, flutist Mimi Stillman, and pianist Natalie Zhu will premiere the piece along with the other six works by winners of Dolce Suono Ensemble’s Young Composers Competition and music by Debussy on Sunday, May 19 at 3:00pm at Field Concert Hall, Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia. Our program “Debussy as Painter of Song” features songs and miniatures by Debussy – Ariettes oubliées for soprano and piano, Deux arabesques for piano, and Syrinx for solo flute – juxtaposed with the new works reflecting on the French master.
