“Música en tus Manos” closes 2014-2015 season with a bang!

On Saturday evening, May 30, Dolce Suono Ensemble brought down the house with Música en tus Manos, its season closing concert featuring guest artists Pablo Reyes, voice and guitar, Solomiya Ivakhiv, violin, and DSE artists Mimi Stillman, flute, Gabriel Cabezas, cello, Charles Abramovic, piano, and Gabriel Globus-Hoenich, percussion. They performed works by Manuel Ponce, Nino Rota, a premiere by Zhou Tian, and new arrangements of boleros, choros, and salsa songs by Globus-Hoenich. Guest violist Celina Velez joined us on the last two numbers, along with surprise guests Tal Shtuhl, saxophone and Neil Rao, percussion.

The evening opened with a side-by-side performance with students we coached at Pan-American Academy led by their teacher Celina Velez, and brought to a close Year 2 of our Música en tus Manos project which also included events with additional partner organizations Casa Monarca and Iglesia Evangelica Bautista.
