Meet Maxwell Kaye
MAXWELL KAYE (b. 2002) is a young composer who has already received recognition at national institutions. He took up composing at the age of seven, teaching himself to read music so he could write down his ideas, and has been working upwards ever since. He has played clarinet since the age of ten and is co-principal clarinet in the Western Connecticut Youth Orchestra (WCYO), as well as making regular appearances in chamber ensembles.
His music has been performed by alumni of the Juilliard School and Curtis Institute of Music, in venues ranging from the Danbury Music Centre and Western Connecticut State University to Curtis and the Eastman School of Music, and he has won several awards for his work. He is currently auditioning for conservatories, and plans to take on music composition as a professional career. He studies with Paul Frucht, a graduate of Juilliard’s doctoral program, and lives in Connecticut with his parents and two brothers, where he is in his senior year of high school.
