Rehearsal clip from this afternoon’s rehearsal of Chan Kai-Young’s Le vent de la nuit for alto flute and piano, played by Mimi Stillman and Natalie Zhu. It is one of the seven winning compositions of Dolce Suono Ensemble’s Young Composers Competition, which we will premiere at our concert “Debussy as Painter of Song” on the Dolce Suono Ensemble Presents series on Sunday, May 19, 2013 at 3:00pm at Field Concert Hall, Curtis Institute of Music, 1726 Locust Street, Philadelphia. Sarah Shafer, soprano will join Stillman and Zhu for a program exploring Debussy’s songs an miniatures, including Ariettes oubliées, Arabesques, Syrinx, along with the world premieres of the competition winning works by Chan Kai-Young, Hong-Da Chin, Viet Cuong, Michael-Thomas Foumai, Chason Goldfinger, Michael McMillan, and Liza Jane White.
