Previewing Fang Man’s “Earth” – world premiere on April 14, 2013

March 20th, 2013

Composer Fang Man discusses her work Earth with Dolce Suono Ensemble Artistic Director and flutist Mimi Stillman and choreographer and dancer Tim Early. Fang’s Earth is a song cycle for soprano, bass-baritone, and sextet with dance component, commissioned by Dolce Suono Ensemble with grants from the Koussevitzky Music Foundation and New Music USA. This large-scale, 45-minute work emerged from Fang’s earlier commissions as part of DSE’s “Mahler 100 / Schoenberg 60” project. In Earth, Fang sets the same poems Mahler set in German in Das Lied von der Erde in the original Chinese.

The world premiere will take place on Sunday, April 14, 2013 at 3:00pm on the Performing Arts Concert Series of Delaware County Community College in Media, PA. We are thrilled to be collaborating with a phenomenal cast:
