December 11: The Americas Project / Música en tus Manos

We continue the season on December 11, 2016 with The Americas Project / Música en tus Manos, DSE’€™s highly praised exploration of the chamber music of the U.S. and Latin America, coupled with engagement initiatives in the Latino community of Philadelphia. This project features the world premiere of a new trio for flute, cello, and piano by Michael-Thomas Foumai, supported by a grant from the Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard University. Foumai, a young composer garnering impressive commissions and awards, was a winner of DSE’€™s first Young Composers Competition in 2013. This program will also include music by Astor Piazzolla, Carlos Guastavino, and Vivian Fine, and features the Dolce Suono Ensemble trio of Mimi Stillman, Nathan Vickery, and Charles Abramovic, along with core guitar artist Gideon Whitehead.
