DSE PRESENTS 2019-2020 Season

4-Concert Series

1 – Bach Masterworks
Sunday, October 27, 2019 at 3:00pm at Old Pine Street Church

Dolce Suono Ensemble core artists join together for a program highlighting the genius of Bach in music sacred and secular, with selections from cantatas, concertos, suites, and sonatas.

2 – Power Wind Quintet Redux
Sunday, December 15, 2019 at 3:00pm at Trinity Center for Urban Life

Woodwind all-stars perform a stylistically varied program of quintets by Danzi, Taffanel, Ligeti, and Berio. Opus Zoo by Luciano Berio requires the musicians to narrate a story, as part of our season-long exploration of the spoken word with music. The artists are distinguished solo and chamber musicians, members of The Philadelphia Orchestra, Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, and Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia.

 

3 – Dolce Suono Trio: Love and War in French Music

Sunday, January 26, 2020 at 3:00pm at Trinity Center for Urban Life

Our flagship ensemble explores the stylistic lineage, pioneering innovations, and heated polemics in French and French-influenced music from Rameau to Debussy to Saariaho.

 

4 – At the Spring: Elephants and Donkeys and Birds, Oh My!
Sunday, May 3, 2020 at 3:00pm at Temple Performing Arts Center

Dolce Suono Ensemble plans a dazzling family concert – for kids from ages 5 to 105 – bringing together DSE’s acclaimed core artists, distinguished guests, and a well-known actor as part of its season-long exploration of the word. Camille Saint-Säens, The Carnival of the Animals
