Music spiced with Central European folk influences, including Bruch’s Romanian-inflected Pieces, Schulhoff’s Concertino with its rollicking Czech furiant, and Brahms’s Piano Quartet in G Minor with its rousing gypsy “Rondo alla zingarese.”

Women Pioneers of American Music / The Americas Project

Music of Amy Beach, Marion Bauer, Ruth Crawford Seeger, Andrea Clearfield, and DSE commission by Jennifer Higdon. The world premiere of Jennifer Higdon’s new trio for flute, cello, and piano will be presented in conjunction with her opera Cold Mountain by Opera Philadelphia.

Court and Country

Old Pine Street Presbyterian Church, 412 Pine Street, Philadelphia

Dolce Suono Ensemble’s annual Baroque program explores “high” and “low” origins of genres in Baroque music, from works which originated at court to the way rural dances were absorbed into classical forms. Our program includes Bach’s magisterial Trio Sonata from The Musical Offering, selections from Rameau’s Pièces de clavecin and arias by Bach, Handel, and Rameau.
