
Yumi Kendall is assistant principal cello of The Philadelphia Orchestra. She has performed chamber music at Music from Angel Fire, Verbier Festival, Marlboro Festival, Taos School of Music, Kingston Chamber Music Festival, and Carnegie Hall’s Emerson String Quartet Workshop. She is a founding member of the Dolce Suono Trio, and of the Dryden String Quartet. At 16, she made her solo debut with the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center. She is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with David Soyer and Peter Wiley. She has served on the faculties of the National Orchestral Institute, New York State School for Orchestral Studies, the Strings International Festival, the University of Pennsylvania chamber music department, and Brevard Music Center.
